Well! First little bit of uni has left me whacked, but it has been good and have met some great people so I'm doing ok. Straight away we were into project work so as to wake us all up and get our creativity flowing again, at first it was a struggle but hey after a while I got into a good rhythm!

Basically, we had two weeks to design costumes, lighting, props and write a script and perform the whole thing in groups, crikey I can assure you, there was a definite wave of panic throughout the 120 students.....we were put into 'clans' and given a material to work with - my group got Ice - and chose a story from Camelot. We then had to create a relationship between the material and the story. Well, this is what happened.....

Initial costume design I sketched out after early  group discussion.

Experimenting with texture - create the illusion of frost and ice on the costumes by using porridge!

'White Ice' by Anya Gallaccio. Her work helped inspire the aesthetic of the Ice World . We tried to create the illusion of  this sort of image through our use of sound in the theatre.

Rachael modelling our rather dashing make up.

Final designs for the story teller and Warrior.....

Onto a drawing project based on a piece, any piece at all, in the whole of The National Gallery - me being me I was drawn to a dark piece full of mystique and unusual characters.....'Witches and their incantations' by Salvator Rosa.

Ahhhhh tomorrow I start my Costume Design course at Wimbledon, very exciting but also pretty scary biscuits.....so today I am making the most of having free, spare time by watching an Eddie Izzard box set cuddled up in my best knitted jumper, ah happiness.....

Earlier on in the week I took some photos for my sister's trio 'A fairly recent threesome.' Fran, along with fellow soprano Amy and David who arranges their music and accompanies their beautiful singing on piano were in need of some shots for their programmes and website so I had a go! At the end of the day it was an excuse for a jolly to Cardiff!

Ah it was good fun :)

So the weather is starting to have an autumn chill so I headed out and got this. Why I'm a knitwear junkie.

Ahhh like wearing a hug.

I also drew a bear, so quite a productive day.

At the moment I am living in state of calm before the whirlwind of university! This is how I've been passing the time...

Doodling - top time wasting activity!

While wandering the streets of London, I stumbled upon this beautiful transparent bunting, I loved  how such a simple idea was transformed by how the sunlight reflected off the dancing flags.

Then went home and got crafty.....

This bunting was so super duper easy, I just got some pretty wrapping paper, cut it into triangle and joined it all together with sticky fabric tape.

My  friend felt bunting was lacking in her new room so I whipped together an even lazier batch!

Simple but effective :)

And obviously during all this free time I had to fill a bit of it with my first love. Baking. This time flapjack as I had no eggs in!

Friday evening I was out with friends at a lovely pub full of taxidermy where you could help yourself...ahem...to these great beer mats - the hats ecteraaa were the result doodling after a couple of drinks for my own amusement!

They are now acting as coasters in the flat. Gotta love free stuff.
