Snowed in. Pencil hanging about. This happened.....

Pretty much Narnia outside. Can't believe how blooming snowy it is.....

As I live in the middle of nowhere, I might as well get cracking with some work.....

I am enjoying finding out the inspirations  behind Rodger's costumes for 'Beetlejuice' making me even more impressed and in awe of her work! A genius at capturing character.

Couple of doodles from this morning.

Oh and it is still snowing.

Friday 22 March 2013

It is Spring. It is snowing. I am fed up.

I am back in the Shire, and although it is lovely to be reunited with fields once more, I am feeling a bit restless and missing London life. I have been filling my time with running - in the company of sheep - skating and generally procrastinating.....fortunately part of my 'work' for this holiday constitutes watching 'Beetlejuice' over and over. What a hard life! ;)

My attempt at creating a little bit of spring time inside.

Oh and completely forgot to share with you lovely people how lovely Lucy is, back when I was a massive stress-pot before my February deadline, I returned home to this......

Best flatmate ever?

Ah that has now inspired me to go and get my bake on!

Yesterday I ate Reindeer dressed in 1940s get up.....that is about how productive my week has been!

Getting slightly obsessed with doodling animals looking dapper .

Oh and I made Candice Bert McKenzie III. Amazing at smelling cheese , is always on time and never gets the sun in it's eyes due to it's numerous visors. Note: How creepy do I look in the background?!?

Saturday 9 March 2013

Ah well, after the crazy collaborative project this week has been a bit slower, with the slightly less exciting and fun side of costume. Pattern manipulation. I've had to use folders, plastic wallets, rulers and even a blooming protractor! But on a plus I have had time to doodle and last night I had a whale of a time getting all flappered up, drinking champers and absinthe and dancing the Charleston.....

Not my idea of fun.

Idol scribblings.

1920s party time! Love everything about this era. Such fun.

Snow and Kirsty looking Cabaret - tastic!

Jenna getting into her HANDMADE gorgeous dress.

Looking lovely ladies.....

Gotta love fancy dress.

Saturday 2 March 2013

What a week! With the show yesterday my week at college has been incredibly busy but also really good fun. At the start of the week I was so chilled and relaxed, however by Thursday morning it all started to snowball slightly as we slowly began to realise just how much needed to still be done by the next day!! This lead to a hilarious all nighter with Jenna and Natasha - plus A LOT of disney songs and wine.....

This is beautiful silk velvet used for the waistcoat. I had to dye and paint it. Felt  so wrong!

Beginnings of the rather extravagant cuffs.

Marking out the spots for the buttons.

Less then 24 hours to go and our coat still looked a little on the unfinished side! Which lead to this.....

Panicked by the fact that we were drastically running out of time to finish the high volume of applied decoration  we just had to go for it and hope for the best!

Jenna modelling once again - without the arms it was looking worryingly Indian?!?

These tabs and buttons became the bane of our lives! We made everything on this costume from scratch. Even the buttons.

Sewing them all on! The design shows them wonky so we tried to recreate the same energy and effect on the actual costume.....(wonkiness not side effect of the wine) !

By this stage time was really getting on,  tiredness , wine and a definite overdose of disney meant we were feeling quite delirious so the last job of painting the coat became rather slapdash! We only just stopped Jenna from throwing a whole bottle of glitter all over it.....
And then for some reason we thought it a good idea to have a celebratory cocktail. Not wise!

Natasha looking very attractive.

Yana's beautiful design.
The finished costume!

Action shot from the show.

All in all I am so proud of us costume lot, all the work turned out amazingly well. The models were all brilliant at showcasing the costumes and they all look great :)

(Once again, the braid is meant to be wonky!)
