I am a cripple. After years of knee problems I now have a dicky hip. Found myself having to lift my leg with my hand when moving my foot from accelerate to brake today when driving.....probably not the safest! But oh the pain! In other news, I have started work experience helping out in the Wardrobe Department for The Buxton Festival: Lovely people, lovely biscuits overall a lovely experience - amazingly designer Lez Brotherston is designing the Double Bill, what is he doing in Buxton?!? Still in disbelief that I have met him. The cast is on the small side so it is pretty relaxed so I ended up home early this evening, just as I was wondering what to do with the unexpected free time, I saw that my chicken skulls had arrived!! This happened.....

Since our millinery project with Sean Barratt I have fallen head over heels in love with hats, add a dash of bird parts and I am one happy lady.

During the afternoon when I was having an idol moment in our wardrobe portacabin I knocked out these sketches.....

I think he suits Jeff.

Tomorrow I am limping my way back to Buxton!

Sunday 23 June 2013

Am now back home for summer, surrounded once again with the green pastures of Derbyshire after a week pretty full of looking ridiculous! Our final project wrapped up with my group dressing as jealousy, pride and regret - turns out jealousy is a cardboard dinosaur, pride is pretty glam-rock and regret likes to wear sunglasses.....

The idea was that regret stops you from living in the moment and seeing the future, it blinkers you into just thinking and reflecting on the past.

Tied down, dragging all my regrets.
Pride. Looking down it's magnificent nose at the other emotions.

Dinosaur of Jealousy. The green-eyed, sly monster.
The three of us ended up getting very in to the project. Maybe a little too enthusiastic at times!

It was a very spontaneous project, we just dived straight in as opposed to doing proper drawn designs, however I still carried out some research into structural costume. These are a couple of my sketches.....

After parading around as emotions, the next opportunity for fancy dress was Snow and Kirsty's White Trash Birthday Bash. It seemed a fitting way to end what has been a very costume party heavy year!

FIT. Ahem.....

Oh Jenna - love that the skin was pretty much the same colour as the hair!

If anyone can make trashy look glamorous it is Kirsty!

No words.

Oh what a fun year it has been!

Monday 17 June 2013

In the not too distant future I am running another half marathon. Yelp. So the weekend kicked off with a pretty long run Saturday morning which left me aching like a granny..... on the more pleasant less painful side of life, these past few days I have been able to indulge in some of my favourite things: kilo sale, fancy dress, having a tipple and afternoon tea! Unfortunately I think the tea was a cake too many as feeling ill today, apparently there is such a thing as too much of a good thing!!

Dark Circus Party.....

Find it hard to resist feathers - regardless of theme!

Sensational ladies.

Oh this hair! Bravo Snow.

After wetting our whistle in the flat we headed to Bloomsbury Ballroom were we met up with the beautiful Kirsty for Circus dancing fun.

The next day, feeling surprisingly fresh, me and Lucy headed off to the V and A to finally see the David Bowie exhibition, definitely a must see. We then finished off the weekend with a brilliant champagne afternoon tea - which has sadly left me in a sickly food coma I still haven't woken from.....

SO. MUCH. CAKE.

We were given not 1, not 2, not 3 but 4 scones each!.....probably don't need to be Sherlock to understand why I feel a tad ill!!

At the end of the week I had off back to the rolling hills of the Shire, but before then I aim to leave London with a bang with friends, costume building, drinks, dining and a bit of white trash for good measure.....

Wednesday 12 June 2013

Time has flown by something crazy. I have now handed in my last bit of First Year work - celebrated by throwing an indoor picnic, drinking gin and dancing to 'The Great Gatsby' soundtrack with friends - and it has been Lucy's Birthday.....both great excuses to do some baking.

Lucy's Birthday Breakfast.....

Alongside fun times, we have just started a short collaborative project running until 21st June. Unfortunately they still haven't really shared with us what it is. So far I have this to go on. Fair to say, feeling a bit confused.....

'There is a drunk dinosaur on my back.'

Random. Gotta love being an art student.

Today visited this exhibition at the Wellcome Collection with Snow, Jenna and Kirsty as was suggested to us  as inspiration for this very ambiguous project. It consisted of work created by Japanese artists who all have learning and mental disabilities. 'Outsider Art.' I am beginning to see a link, pushing boundaries of the ordinary, thinking about how we can transform what we think of as being human and experiment with shape, movement and space.....

Hopefully it will all start to make more sense!

Oh and a quick little drawing to pass the time...

P.s this weekend I am dressing up as a clown. Pretty excited.
