I love feathers and drawing animal hybrids, so tonight for a bit of fun I attempted bringing my sketches to life by sticking some feathers on my face all accompanied by Bowie.....

A couple of examples of previous sketches that inspired tonight's experiment.

Unfortunately I didn't have enough feathers to cover my face, so it is a transforming hybrid.....for now.....

Just a regular Monday night in!

This morning I ran through a rain-drenched Chatsworth. After I looked remarkably like a drowned rat. But the beautiful scenery and falling rain inspired these sketches.....

Couple of snaps from a dry day in the past at Chatsworth - just to give a feel of the place!

Oh at the minute I am feeling creatively stale, really feeling the need to get back to London and indulge in some culture vulture pursuits to find new inspirations! This is how I have been spending my time in the countryside - fair to say I feel a tad lazy.....

The fashion in these sketches inspired by a book from my uni library, 'Fashion Through Fashion Plates'  by Doris Langley-Moore. I give you a 1947 Christian Dior bird hybrid and an 1894 'Weiner-Chic' deer.

And of course my other love. Cake. This one a 21st Birthday cake. Victoria sponge with butter - icing and blackcurrant jam, with lemon drizzle syrup. Note the champagne bottle candle from Co-op!

I do however have a new idea for a hat that I am anxious to create, but the main material I have in mind is in the flat in London so am having to keep it on the back burner for the time being, but watch this space.....

Oh! Almost forgot about my Highland Cow, think he suits Edgar.....

Birthday - making fun!

Since my life revolves around working at the present, drawing, bunting and baking are the silver linings to my life.I know, wild.

Think I love bunting a bit too much.

My sister Frances' Birthday cake!

Three tiered chocolate cake with vanilla and chocolate cream cheese frosting,  crushed bourbons and strawberries.

Friday 9 August 2013

Ah summer is rolling along, the sun has been shining surprisingly frequently and a part from earning some dollar house keeping, I have been filling my time with lovely stuff. Just some snaps, drawings and cake from the past couple of weeks.....

Sketch from the plane journey to Corfu.

Wooooo stayed at the good old Pink Palace, am becoming a bit of a regular.....
This dude was at Luton airport. Just look at those jeans. Speechless. Had to get a quick sketch of him down, people like this are costume inspiration gold.

This drawing was my attempt to capture the woman on the beach who is in charge of the kayaks. Dodgiest wearing of bikini bottoms I have and will ever see. Fact.

Dapper toad.

Day trip to the Yorkshire coast.....

'Oh I do like to be beside the seasiiide'

Some cows. Just chilling.

Had a very Grandma day - even by my standards. Walked to Chatsworth for a cuppa then walked back home. By myself. Whole new level of living on the edge.

Hi there.

And of course I have been getting busy in the kitchen, baking for friends. Victoria Sandwich cupcake anyone?

Blueberry and vanilla cake. Oh heaven.
