As part of our project, we have been asked to photograph our hat in a way that suggests the character/actress it was designed for, so today me and Jenna braved the rather strong wind of Wimbledon for a quick outdoor shoot.....

Mervyn Peake's sketch of Countess Groan.

Concept design of Countess Gertrude by Grace McComisky.

Jenna's hair looks so perfect for Countess Gertrude, really gives a sense of how the hat would appear on her. I may be slightly biased - but am pleased with the result and think the colours work well and enhance the red hair and pale complexion.

Chose this particular spot as the old looking wall and ivy plants  help portray the idea of Gormenghast castle, and the world in which Countess Gertrude resides.....

“Gormenghast.
Withdrawn and ruinous it broods in umbra: the immemorial masonry: the towers, the tracts. Is all corroding? No. Through an avenue of spires a zephyr floats; a bird whistles; a freshet beats away from a choked river. Deep in a fist of stone a doll's hand wriggles, warm rebellious on the frozen palm. A shadow shifts its length. A spider stirs...
And darkness winds between the characters.
- Gormenghast”

Thank you Jenna!
